Winning garden in Swindon.

SNG in Bloom competition winners announced

Budding gardeners and gardening groups from across London and the South of England have been recognised in the inaugural SNG in Bloom competition.

Indoor gardens, outdoor gardens, community gardens and green spaces were all in contention in this first year of the competition. SNG’s Group CEO Mark Washer and Chief Communities and Sustainability Officer Jamie Ratcliff joined the Community Investment team to deliberate and select the worthy winners.

First place participants won £200 vouchers, with £100 vouchers for second place and £50 for third place respectively. All winners received a certificate and a trophy with their prize.

Jamie Ratcliff, Chief Communities and Sustainability Officer, commented: “It was incredibly hard to judge these awards as there were so many brilliant submissions from green-fingered and community minded SNG customers. I’d like to warmly congratulate the winners who should be rightly proud of their success in the face of such competition. I was blown away with the levels of skill, commitment and improvement shown in all submissions and can’t wait to visit some of these beautiful spaces in person.”

Security company Sustainable Guarding kindly sponsored the Sustainable Garden Award. Managing Director Michael Collyer and Finance and HR Director Marina Gomez commented: “We were thrilled to sponsor the Sustainable Garden Award, as it aligns perfectly with our commitment to fostering environmentally responsible practices and creating vibrant, sustainable communities. Gardens are not only spaces for reflection and growth but also vital habitats that support biodiversity and combat climate change. We are proud to champion this cause and celebrate the creativity and dedication of all participants."

SNG in Bloom is part of our Living Together Programme, a Community Investment initiative that aims to reduce minor anti-social behaviour and bring communities together through a package of support, funding and resources. This is being delivered through three different strands: #Innovate, #Befriend and the #InBloom gardening competition.
