Move on and Thrive Fund second round now open to support youth projects

Organisations on the Isle of Wight are being offered grants of up to £10,000 for a range of health and wellbeing projects for young people in the next round of the Move on and Thrive Fund created by SNG and The Blagrave Trust.

The Move on and Thrive Fund is a £240,000, three-year investment made up of £120,000 from The Blagrave Trust and £120,000 match-funded by SNG and led by a panel of young people.

One-year grants of between £5,000 and £10,000 are available in this next round for projects or activities to support young adults between 16 to 25 years old.

The programme aims to empower The Move on and Thrive Panel to discuss the issues that they and their peers have experienced and possible solutions. The panel is then provided with an allocation of funding it can grant to organisations and charities that address these issues via an application process.

This year’s Move on and Thrive panel is particularly interested in projects which will support young people on the Isle of Wight to engage in positive activities, promote and improve their quality of life, including physical and mental health. It is particularly interested in projects that support the reduction of vaping, reducing social isolation and connecting young people to their community.

It would also like to see applications that provide life skills sessions that look at finance, housing and money management.

Charities, Community Interest Companies and constituted community groups that are based or currently delivering work on the Isle of Wight are welcomed to apply through both an online application and a video application. In September, the panel will meet and shortlist the applications.

Toby Eaglen, Community Investment and Partnership Lead for the IOW at SNG said: “SNG is delighted to be working with the Blagrave Trust to support young people and their physical and mental wellbeing on the island. If you are an organisation working with residents aged 16 to 25 and would like to learn about grant funding, please contact us and submit a funding application.”

Tessa Hibbert from The Blagrave Trust said: “We fund and collaborate with partners to bring lasting change to the lives of young people. We invest in them as powerful forces for change and act upon their right to be heard in pursuit of a fair and just society. We’re really pleased to be supporting this important initiative on the island.”

SNG has also opened the Move on and Thrive Youth Empowerment Fund with the Blagrave Trust with individual grants for young people aged 16-25 that live on the Isle of Wight. The fund is for those that face financial hardship and who are unable to access support and opportunities that would empower them to move on and thrive. Young people can only be referred by a registered organisation working with young people on the Isle of Wight.
